Picture production technologiesDuring the production from bar stock material, the blade root is produced on 3, 4, and 5-axis-milling machines. High speed milling has been a production standard for years. Intelligent clamping and measuring concepts enable a convenient machine change.

Grinding techniques, such as swing grinding and deep grinding, help produce the most differing types of blade root shapes with maximum accuracy.

Using ECM-technology for the production of most difficult compressor blade profiles is a specialty of LEISTRITZ TURBOMASCHINEN TECHNIK GMBH. ECM stands for „electro chemical machining“, a process in which material is removed in a contactless manner. LEISTRITZ started to use this special technology for serial production in the early 1970s

This technology can be used for all electrically conductive metals, however, it is mostly used in mass production for the machining of materials which are hard to process with conventional machine technologies (forging, milling, grinding). Consequently, the majority of the compressor blades processed with ECM are made of titanium or nickel based alloys. Significant economic advantages result from the combination of extremely short fabricating times, excellent repeatabilty, and best surface qualities without wear on the tool.

The ECM machines and the complete supply with electrolyte and control technology are part of LEISTRITZ TURBOMASCHINEN TECHNIK GMBH's know how. We are constantly improving the machine and process technologies.
